Storage/Shipping Conditions: This material is packaged in glass vials and is shipped with an ice pack. If prolonged storage is required, keep in a tightly sealed container at -20oC
Toxicity: Toxic;

Mode of action: Spirolides are fast acting toxins isolated from the dinoflagellates Alexnadrium ostenfeldii or Alaxandrium peruvianum targeting muscarinic, acetylcholine and nicotinic receptors 1,2 transmembrane calcium channels 3. Recent research 4,5 has shown that at sub-toxic concentrations, this molecule can cross the blood-brain barrier and reduce the main pathological characteristics of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) in a well-known animal model system.
